National Workshop and Competition


West Palm Beach Florida was the host for the 2017 Dance Educators of America National
Workshop and Competition. Students from all over the United States, Panama and Mexico
attended. Special Guest Teachers, Karla Garcia and David Guzman from the Broadway hit
“Hamilton” were some of the highlights of the week.

College Scholarship Auditions were held along with Royal Caribbean Cruise Lines auditions.
The Gala Awards Banquet crowned our 2017 National Title Winners and awarded their
prestigious National Directors Award and the President’s Award. Dance Educators of America
honored Ben Vereen for all of his contributions to the arts.

Dance Educators of America held their Musical Theatre Intensive in West Palm Beach also.
Partnering with So Danca, 15 scholarships were offered to students from all over the country to
attend. The week culminates with a 45-minute show featuring these talented students singing,
dancing and acting. The talented staff comes from LA along with the Interns.
Our Certified Teachers Training Program offered three levels of certification. The core classes
were Tap Ballet, Jazz and Modern. Classes in hip hop, acrobatics, lyrical, contemporary, injury
prevention, the McGovern Method in strength and conditioning were held. West Palm Beach
Convention Center will Host the 2018 National Events for Dance Educators of America from
July 1 through July 13.
