Offenbach’s ballet “Le Papillon” with original choreography by Vladimir Issaev, is a two act, fairy themed ballet first presented by the Paris Opera Ballet. The story involves a mean old fairy Hamza, a servant a kidnapped princess Farfalla, and a prince Djalma. The fairy turns Farfalla into a butterfly and much confusion ensues. Djalma kisses Hamza, returning her to a beautiful young woman, but eventually love prevails, the spell on Farfalla is broken and Djalma and Farfalla marry.
